Nagari Dwarka is one of India's oldest and holiest cities. It is situated on Gujarat's western coast. Dwarka, also referred to as the "Gateway to Heaven," is extremely significant historically, culturally, and spiritually. It is thought to be the fabled kingdom of Lord Krishna, who left Mathura to govern from this location.
Dwarka, Badrinath, Rameswaram, and Puri are all part of the Char Dham pilgrimage locations. Hindu mythology states that after Lord Krishna vanquished Kansa and left Mathura, he made Dwarka his capital. Several ancient scriptures, including the Bhagavata Purana, Harivamsa, and Mahabharata, make reference to the city.
According to archaeological discoveries, Dwarka was a significant port city as early as the second millennium BCE. The existence of an advanced urban settlement thought to be the ancient Dwarka is indicated by submerged structures found underwater close to the present city.
The famous Dwarkadhish Temple, devoted to Lord Krishna, is located in Dwarka. It is an architectural wonder with elaborate carvings and a lofty spire that was built more than 2,500 years ago. The Rukmini Devi Temple, Bet Dwarka, and Nageshwar Jyotirlinga are more noteworthy locations.
According to legend, once Lord Krishna left this world, the old Dwarka was buried beneath the sea. The tenacity of its spiritual and cultural legacy is demonstrated by modern-day Dwarka.
Dwarka now draws pilgrims and tourists from all over the world. It is a centre for architectural beauty, maritime archaeology, and spiritual devotion, preserving its long history.
